Don't Neglect Your Carpeted Stairs!

One of the most overlooked areas of carpeting in your home is often the stairs, and for a couple of good reasons.

With other carpeted rooms in your home you might actually lay on them to watch television, play games with the kids, or even sit down and have a meal while watching TV.

Because of this most people are much more aware of why maintaining your carpet in those rooms is important.

The second reason stairs usually don't get the attention is that people just find vacuuming the stairs, or doing some spot and stain removal, is sort of a pain in the rear. So stairs, usually do not get vacuumed as often or receive the attention that they need.

But this is a mistake!

Stairs receive a huge amount of soil, and many times the stairs have the highest soil load of all the carpeted areas in a home. On top of that the stairs receive very concentrated foot traffic, which means the soil initially deposited on top of the stairs ends up getting ground into the carpet fibers and deep into the pile of the carpet.

This can end up leading to carpet that has a huge soil load and looks - well - just awful. It doesn't need to be this way!

Make sure you vacuum your stairs, and take care of them, the same way you do the rest of your carpet. Make sure any spots or spills are addressed ASAP instead of just ignoring them because "well, they are just on the stairs."

If you vacuum your stairs regularly and do regular spot and spill cleanup your stairs can remain looking good between cleanings.
